You have dreamed of that perfect Mexican escape for months? Imagine: turquoise waters, warm sand… and a surprising large number of fellow sun-seekers who all had the same idea!
High Season, November through March are busy months. Lots of people escaping winter temperatures. The week before and after Easter Sunday is a very busy time also on the beaches of Puerto Vallarta. Between the national tourists and the spring breakers from the North, the beaches of Mexico, during Easter Holiday get very crowded.
Naturally restaurants and bars are also very busy. If you want to jump in and rub elbows, it’s great fun. Otherwise, consider visiting Puerto Vallarta during a quieter time.
Beat the Crowds in Mexico
Plan Around Holidays and Paydays:
- Check the Mexican calendar, especially the SEP calendar for school breaks. Popular tourist destinations get packed during holidays and long weekends. If a specific event is crucial, book well in advance and embrace the festive atmosphere!
- Avoid “quincenas” (payday weekends around the 1st and 15th). This is when locals enjoy some leisure time, leading to busier restaurants and attractions.
Explore When Others Don’t:
- Consider the off-season. Prices drop when tourist crowds thin out, (May-October) allowing you to stretch your travel budget further.
- “Rainy Season” is typically June-September – but don’t let the term scare you. It does not rain all day and the sky is not dark and dreary. Puerto Vallarta experiences brief late afternoon or evening showers leaving most days sunny and perfect for outdoor adventures. The rain makes everything green and lush. Tours and fishing trips rarely get disrupted, so you can pack your swimsuit and explore without worry.
Seek Hidden Gems:
Mexico boasts far more than popular beaches and expat havens. Venture beyond the well-trodden path! The Mariposario butterfly Sanctuary, The Le Cruz Sunday Market, and San Pancho, to name a few.
Looking for a charming escape near Puerto Vallarta? San Pancho is a laid-back gem often called San Francisco. While the vibrant energy of Sayulita draws many visitors, San Pancho offers a distinct experience, just a five-minute drive (or a scenic hike!) away.
This artsy town oozes tranquility, inviting you to immerse yourself in nature and culture. Browse unique galleries and local handicrafts, unwind on the beautiful San Pancho beach, and be captivated by the fiery sunsets painting the Pacific horizon.
By following these tips, you can tailor your Puerto Vallarta Mexican adventure for maximum tranquility and create lasting memories, not memories of fighting for beach space!
