Puerto Vallarta, Mexico – Puerto Vallarta proudly inaugurated the Jorullo Point viewpoint, a remarkable new attraction within the Canopy El Jorullo y el Ejido ecotourism complex. The highlight of this expansion is the awe-inspiring suspension bridge, a 200-meter long and 100-meter high structure designed for both RZR vehicles and pedestrians.
Perched at a breathtaking height of 420 meters above sea level, the bridge provides an unparalleled view of the surrounding natural beauty. Visitors crossing this engineering marvel are welcomed to a thoughtfully designed seating area complete with a drinks bar. The area also features a panoramic swing and a glass-floored viewing platform, offering spectacular vistas of the Cuale Mountains, the Cuale River, and the vast sea.
The introduction of Canopy and El Jorullo aims to diversify and enrich the experiences available at this sustainable ecotourism complex. Notably, the site encompasses a hiking trail leading to the new viewpoint. The trail, starting from the restaurant at the park’s entrance, offers an invigorating two-and-a-half-hour walk through the scenic landscape.
Luis Villaseñor, the general director of the Public Trust for Tourism Promotion and Advertising of Puerto Vallarta, emphasized the significance of this development. He pointed out the dual importance of the mountains – as a tourist attraction and a vital source of income for the local community. The park, which employs about 150 individuals, predominantly local youth, is seen as both an economic driver and an enhancer of the tourist experience in the region.
Enrique Alfaro and Norma Furlong, representing the world tourism association Skall Vallarta chapter, expressed their full support for the Canopy initiative. They underscored their commitment to fostering and strengthening the tourism industry in Puerto Vallarta.
The construction of “El Jorullo Point” spanned over a year and a half. It is now accessible to the public via local tour operators and through general access at the park entrance. Looking ahead, the directors of El Jorullo are contemplating the addition of a cable car from this new point to the mountain, a proposal they plan to present in due course.
The inauguration of Jorullo Point marks a significant milestone in Puerto Vallarta’s journey towards becoming a diverse and sustainable tourist destination, offering both thrilling adventures and a deep connection with nature.
