Don’t Miss Out! Legendary Tall Ship ‘Amerigo Vespucci’ Coming to Puerto Vallarta June 20-22

Puerto Vallarta gears up to welcome the renowned Italian naval training ship ‘Amerigo Vespucci,’ known for its stunning design. This visit marks the second leg of the ship’s global voyage, aiming to combine traditional cadet training with cultural exchange and diplomacy.

A Global Voyage of a Historic Ship. The Amerigo Vespucci ison a 20-month journey across three oceans. The Amerigo Vespucci is a tall ship of the Italian Navy named after Amerigo Vespucci. Amerigo was an Italian explorer and navigator from the Republic of Florence, from whose name the term “America” is derived.

• This majestic vessel, named after the explorer Amerigo Vespucci, has served since 1931 as a training ground for Italian Navy officers and crew.
• Marvel at its impressive size: 101 meters long and adorned with 26 sails that unfurl across three masts, the tallest reaching 50 meters.
• While steeped in tradition, the Amerigo Vespucci is also equipped with modern diesel engines, accommodating a crew of approximately 400.

A unique cultural experience awaits. The visit will include a scientific conference featuring experts from the University of Guadalajara, along with tourist activities for the Italian crew.

Strengthening ties with Italy. Discussions are underway to explore a potential Sister City program, fostering tourism and cultural exchange between Puerto Vallarta and Italy.

The ‘Amerigo Vespucci’ arrives in Puerto Vallarta on June 18th and departs on June 23rd. This is a chance to experience a piece of maritime history and celebrate international collaboration.

Public tours offered! Following official events on June 18th and 19th, the ship will open its doors for student groups on June 20th. Public tours for groups of 50 will be available on June 21st and 22nd, starting at 10 am.
