Puerto Vallarta closes the summer vacation with “excellent numbers,” according to the Director of Tourism and Economic Development, Christian Preciado Cázares.
Hotel occupancy has averaged close to 80 percent and on weekends up to 90, with the arrival of visitors by different means, which reflects the incredible moment that tourism in Puerto Vallarta is experiencing, says the municipal official.
And it is that this past weekend, the holiday period ended, and the results have been encouraging, said the director of Tourism and Economic Development, who stressed that the benefits have reached the different tourist service providers.
“Since last month, hotel occupancy has remained between 80 to 85 percent, and some family hotels have exceeded 90 percent on weekends. In addition, during the week, a group of university students or youths from the metropolitan area of Guadalajara, Aguascalientes, El Bajío, and Mexico City have been arriving, which benefits the entire tourism sector,” he said.
Likewise, according to data from the International Airport, Puerto Vallarta continues to break records, since from January to July, it already exceeded 4.2 million tourists who arrived by air, and in the week of August 14 to 20 (the most recent record) 107,997 passengers arrived,” of which more than 40 percent did so on international flights,” he explained.
In the international cruise segment, 203 arrivals are expected this year, with more than 350,000 passengers in the first semester, “the vast majority of whom go down to see the destination, which means greater economic benefits.” highlights Preciado Cázares. “It is expected that the figure of 530,000 cruise passengers from last year will be widely surpassed, he added.
“The movement of tourist boats has also grown by 15.3 percent this first semester; we have data that 343,666 people were served on these bay tours. Likewise, the combs of private vessels also registered an increase of 6.7 percent, with 21,481 people served, according to data provided by the Administration of the National Port System of Puerto Vallarta”, he pointed out.
The influx of tourism is expected not to drop and continue in this trend (85 percent occupancy) until the beginning of the high season on the din of the year, when the destination would reach full capacity.
