Puerto Vallarta, Mexico – As part of a National Migration Institute (INM) approved strategy that aims to reduce passenger waiting times at air terminals, as of August 1, 2022, the Puerto Vallarta International Airport (PVR) will no longer require international travelers to present a Multiple Immigration Format (FMM) upon arrival.
With this program, tourists who arrive in Puerto Vallarta will only have to go through basic security protocols and present their passports to INM agents, a process that should take just 10 minutes on average, however, authorities hope that the times will gradually decrease over time.
Currently, the Puerto Vallarta International Airport has around 20 migration agents and 14 filters, which speeds up the process with this new format implemented in the air terminal.
The elimination of the FMM is part of a pilot test implemented by the Mexican government in selected airports to speed up the security process upon arrival. Travelers should bear in mind that the elimination of this form has only been approved at specific airports and it is still required in other destinations.
Puerto Vallarta has established itself as one of national and international tourists’ favorite beach vacation destinations, as proven by the record number of visitors that arrived during the first half of the year.
So far in 2022, PVR has received over 2 million passengers from international markets, which demonstrates the importance of generating strategies that speed up their entry.
The International Airport of Puerto Vallarta, of the Grupo Aeroportuario del Pacífico, has also established itself as one of the air terminals with the greatest infrastructure at the national level.
And now, the airport’s new Terminal 2 is being built, which will be a NET Zero (Zero Emissions) smart building that will generate energy savings of 40.78% and drinking water savings of 58.3%. It will also have high-technology security systems for baggage revisions.
The new terminal is expected to open its doors in October 2024 and will have the capacity to welcome 4.5 million passengers a year. More tourists will be welcome and an optimized modern space will also improve passengers’ experience during their visit to this top destination.
