Des images peintes \u00e0 l'acrylique et mettant en sc\u00e8ne des personnages color\u00e9s racontent le paysage de cette destination, consid\u00e9r\u00e9e comme la \u00ab Capitale culturelle \u00bb de l'\u00c9tat de Nayarit gr\u00e2ce aux diff\u00e9rentes initiatives de promotion de la culture et de l'\u00e9ducation. Les premiers habitants de cette zone, o\u00f9 est n\u00e9e la Sierra Madre del Sur, \u00e9taient des indig\u00e8nes appartenant au groupe Tatuan de Nayares. En 1524, Don Francisco Cort\u00e9s de Buenaventura nomme la r\u00e9gion Azapan et les Espagnols baptisent la ville du nom de San Francisco de Azapan. Celle-ci ferait plus tard partie de l'Hacienda de Jaltemba, o\u00f9 \u00e9tait produite l'huile de coco. En 1936 a \u00e9t\u00e9 form\u00e9 l'ejido Sayulita, auquel appartient San Pancho et qui, d'une certaine mani\u00e8re, a marqu\u00e9 l'esprit communautaire qui caract\u00e9rise cette destination.
