{"id":18448,"date":"2023-08-15T11:07:52","date_gmt":"2023-08-15T17:07:52","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/mexpatrealtors.com\/?p=18448"},"modified":"2023-08-15T11:11:05","modified_gmt":"2023-08-15T17:11:05","slug":"mexican-peso","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"http:\/\/mexpatrealtors.com\/es\/mexican-peso\/","title":{"rendered":"How can we predict what will happen next with the Mexican peso?"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>El mi\u00e9rcoles vimos c\u00f3mo el peso mexicano&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/mexiconewsdaily.com\/business\/sweet-16-us-dollar-dips-below-17-pesos\/\">punch por debajo de 17<\/a>&nbsp;por primera vez en ocho a\u00f1os, y a primera hora del jueves, un repentino debilitamiento del 2%.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Se dice que intentar predecir los tipos de cambio futuros es un juego de tontos, y en mis 25 a\u00f1os de experiencia en negocios internacionales, he sido testigo de c\u00f3mo innumerables tontos lo intentaban. Predecir los tipos de cambio a plazo nunca es sencillo.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>El razonamiento financiero m\u00e1s l\u00f3gico para la trayectoria de una divisa determinada puede resultar completamente err\u00f3neo en funci\u00f3n de acontecimientos pol\u00edticos o macroecon\u00f3micos mundiales que poco tienen que ver espec\u00edficamente con ese pa\u00eds. Sin embargo, hay factores predecibles que intervienen en los movimientos de las divisas y que pueden analizarse y seguirse.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>En este breve resumen, explicar\u00e9 por qu\u00e9 el peso mexicano se ha fortalecido frente al d\u00f3lar y, lo que es m\u00e1s importante, qu\u00e9 hay que vigilar para ver hacia d\u00f3nde se dirige en el futuro. Tenga en cuenta que esto no es una predicci\u00f3n sobre el valor del peso a corto plazo, y que pueden producirse cambios repentinos en funci\u00f3n de nuevos acontecimientos econ\u00f3micos o pol\u00edticos.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Para empezar, hay factores subyacentes que apoyan&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/mexiconewsdaily.com\/business\/pros-and-cons-of-the-superpeso-a-perspective-from-our-ceo\/\">un peso mexicano generalmente fuerte<\/a>&nbsp;como unos ratios de deuda relativamente bajos, fuertes entradas de d\u00f3lares procedentes de las remesas, el turismo y la inversi\u00f3n extranjera directa, una inflaci\u00f3n de estable a decreciente y la tendencia al nearshoring. Todos estos factores son realmente relevantes para entender la fortaleza del peso mexicano en la actualidad.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Pero, \u00bfexplica eso por qu\u00e9 estamos viendo un fortalecimiento tan r\u00e1pido y significativo? No del todo. Otra ecuaci\u00f3n muy importante es la siguiente: \u00bfCu\u00e1les son los tipos de inter\u00e9s actuales en M\u00e9xico?  \u00bfCu\u00e1l es la tasa de inflaci\u00f3n actual (y la tendencia)?  \u00bfCu\u00e1l es el diferencial (la diferencia) entre ambos tipos? \u00bfY c\u00f3mo se compara ese diferencial con el de Estados Unidos? Perm\u00edtanme ilustrarlo con cifras actuales:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>El tipo de inter\u00e9s actual de M\u00e9xico es del 11,25%.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>La tasa de inflaci\u00f3n actual de M\u00e9xico se sit\u00faa en torno al 5% y tiende a la baja.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>La diferencia entre ambas tasas es de m\u00e1s de 5%.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>El tipo de inter\u00e9s actual de la Reserva Federal en Estados Unidos ronda el 5%.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>La tasa de inflaci\u00f3n actual en Estados Unidos ronda el 5% y tiende a la baja.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p>Suponiendo que el riesgo de invertir en ambos pa\u00edses sea el mismo (que no lo es), ahora mismo podr\u00edas ganar m\u00e1s de 5% por encima del inter\u00e9s de tu dinero en M\u00e9xico. En Estados Unidos, en cambio, se podr\u00eda ganar esencialmente 0% por encima del inter\u00e9s. Hist\u00f3ricamente, el argumento de la diferencia es que se necesita una \"prima de riesgo\" para invertir en pa\u00edses como M\u00e9xico. Si bien es cierto, los factores subyacentes que apoyan la econom\u00eda mexicana, como se mencion\u00f3 anteriormente, son muy fuertes en este momento. Adem\u00e1s, el diferencial actual entre los tipos de inter\u00e9s y la tasa de inflaci\u00f3n en M\u00e9xico es tan alto, que est\u00e1 haciendo que el peso sea muy atractivo en estos momentos.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Para entender hacia d\u00f3nde podr\u00edan ir las cosas a partir de ahora, hay que estar atentos a los tipos de inter\u00e9s, las tasas de inflaci\u00f3n y el diferencial entre ambos tipos en ambos pa\u00edses. A primera hora del jueves, el fuerte debilitamiento del peso mexicano se debi\u00f3 en gran parte a las cifras mejores de lo esperado en la creaci\u00f3n de empleo en el sector privado estadounidense. Esto hizo que los inversores esperasen nuevas subidas de los tipos de inter\u00e9s en EE.UU., a pesar de una tasa de inflaci\u00f3n con tendencia a la baja. Esto aumentar\u00eda el diferencial en EE.UU. y har\u00eda en general m\u00e1s atractivo invertir en d\u00f3lares frente al peso mexicano.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Me sorprender\u00eda que este an\u00e1lisis no le hubiera dado dolor de cabeza a estas alturas. A pesar de todo el ruido que rodea a los recientes movimientos de las divisas, podemos intentar ver hacia d\u00f3nde se dirigen siendo observadores atentos de los indicadores econ\u00f3micos que he descrito anteriormente.
